Resist the temptation to go out and shop for "Organizing Supplies" until you have actually sorted and purged what you have. You don't want to waste your money on something that looked great in the store but isn't the right size or shape for what you want it to hold.
Consider reusing furniture in other rooms. It can be an inexpensive way to change the feeling of the space plus provide added storage. A small dresser that is no longer needed can be placed in a front entry with a lamp and key bowl. Hang a picture or photograph (or a grouping) and you've created a lovely vignette to welcome guests!
The bonus is that you can store scarves, mitts, cell phone chargers, etc. in the drawers and you will always know where to find them when you're on the go!
For special occasions - consider gift certificates for local restaurants or theatre tickets as gifts for the person who "has" everything. They will be able to enjoy the special gift and the thought you put into it without adding to or accumulating "stuff".
Before buying items in bulk, consider how much money you are really saving versus the amount of space that it is going to take up in your home and how long it will take you to use it up. Items that linger in storage for months add to the clutter in your home and the small amount of savings usually isn't worth the valuable storage space they consume.
